There are many aspects of Ghawdex that make it extra special. These include the eldest man-made structures like the Ggantija, the Calypso Cave, and its amazing fortress called Citadella. It has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and reconstructed completely in 1622.
Gozo is famously known especially with Maltese people for their Carnival (Karnival) and Village feasts (il- Festa tar-Rahal). These traditions are what make Gozo different from any other Island in the Mediterranean. Maltese people and many travelers always look forward to celebrating these occasions with the Gozitans.
Fun Fact: The Nadur Carnival used to be the place where courtship between a couple began and eventually led to marriage. Today, people dress in flamboyant costumes with the intention of not being recognized!
